Flammability. Like any polyurethane product, Minwax polyurethane clear-coat is highly flammable. It has a flash point of 105 degrees Fahrenheit, which means that the liquid can vaporize at that temperature to become an ignited substance. Will polyurethane fumes explode?
Exposure to FlamesSmoking around wet polyurethane, generating a spark when turning on a light switch or having the furnace kick on can cause the vapors to explode. Burning polyurethane also creates dioxin -- one of the most toxic substances on Earth.
