Horatio Carrillo, the leader of the Colombian forces tasked to bring down Escobar, didn't actually exist. He's believed to be inspired by Colonel Hugo Martinez, who was tasked with hunting down Escobar. Even Escobar's wife is somewhat fictionalized. In real life, Escobar was married to Maria Victoria Henao Vallejos.
